Where To-Go for Summer Alexandria Restaurant Week 2020!

Updated: Sep 12, 2021

Twice a year, Alexandria restaurants participate in restaurant weeks to showcase locally owned restaurants and their variety of fare. This year, Alexandria Summer Restaurant Week encourages diners to order take-out to support locally owned restaurants and the bonus is that for almost two weeks you can enjoy special menus and a special take-out price of $49 for dinner for two. Restaurant weeks are my favorite time to try to new local restaurants and re-visit my favorites. This year meal packages range from an appetizer, two entrées and a bottle of wine to three-course meals for two with desserts plus add-on options of cocktails to-go.

You can check out the participating restaurants here.

I usually plan to support up to three times per week which is considerable but at nearly two weeks, you definitely can choose how little or much you want to go to order from the restaurants.

Here is simple guide to participate!

Choose a local favorite

Alexandria Restaurant Week 2020 is a great week to show your favorite local restaurant a little more love!

Try: Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria is my one of my favorites in the area. I love Italian food and the restaurant always serves amazingly tasty food with the best customer service. I order from Lena's at least once a week. I love the spaghetti bolognese and you can take home their signature sangria.

Choose a local upscale restaurant

The restaurant that is normally a splurge on any other week is one you can enjoy at a discounted price.

Try: Chart House is a great restaurant on the waterfront that is perfect for special occasions and date nights but during Alexandria Restaurant Week 2020 you set up a special night at home. For some inspiration, read my last post on at home #datenightin

Choose a new restaurant

Seek out a new restaurant that opened within the last year or present year. The first year(s) of operation can make or break a new restaurant and we could not anticipate the economic impact of the pandemic upon new and/or small restaurants so this is a great week to support one!

Try: Taquería Picosa just opened this year and a great place to amp up your #tacotuesday at home.

Choose a restaurant you've never been to before

The restaurant you've been eyeing and haven't gotten around visiting in the new year is the perfect pick for Alexandria Restaurant Week!

Try: Spice Kraft Indian Bistro is a restaurant that I've been looking to try and I'm excited to indulge in some great Indian fare in the city.

Are you trying any new or local favorites during Alexandria Restaurant Week?
